Mirvish Productions is excited to announce a new addition to our Accessibility Services: the GalaPro system. This innovative technology delivers real-time closed captioning and audio description right to your own personal mobile device, via the GalaPro app, no matter where you sit in the theatre. Already currently in use in over 90% of Broadway theatres, we are thrilled to be among the first in Canada to offer this service to our audiences. Available for free for all patrons with the GalaPro app. Download on Apple and Android! Services offered vary by production.

Download the Gala Pro mobile app from the App Store or Google Play. Search for GalaPro (one word).
Create your account
New users select “Get Started Now” and enter your email and create a password.
Charge your phone
Ensure your phone is fully charged! Running the app will typically use up 15% of your battery during the performance.
At the theatre
1. Log in
Log in to your GalaPro account.
2. Select Toronto
Tap the compass arrow (top left) to select Toronto.
3. Select Your show
Choose from Come From Away, Disney's The Lion King, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Beetlejuice, Back to the Future: The Musical.
4. Choose your service(s)
Choose Closed Captioning, Audio Description, or Language Translation (Spanish) for Moulin Rouge! The Musical and Come From Away (Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Korean). Choose Closed Captioning, Audio Description, or Language Translation (Spanish) for Disney's The Lion King. Choose Closed Captioning or Language Translation (Spanish) for Beetlejuice. Choose Closed Captioning for Back to the Future: The Musical.
5. Your phone settings
Set your phone to Airplane/Flight mode. Turn of any alarms or notifications (Do Not Disturb mode).
6. Select Wi-Fi
Turn on Wi-Fi and select the GalaPro Wi-Fi network. Password: galapro1
7. Return to galapro app
Go back to the Gala Pro app. The service(s) you have selected will start automatically once the show begins.
8. Enjoy the show!
That's it! Settle in, sit back and enjoy the show.
GALAPRO Tip!
To adjust font size and brightness or text colour, use settings on the top left of the screen. Wired headphones must be used for Audio Description (not compatible with Bluetooth).
FAQ
The technology is designed to adhere to and respect the rules of the theatre. Airplane mode is always on, blocking phone calls and messages, and a black screen with red or grey lettering is designed to guarantee that only the individual using GalaPro can see it from their personal screen.
No. Audience members may use the service, free of charge, at any performance where it is being offered.
No. One of the great benefits of GalaPro is that the system allows you to sit in any seat and any price range, for any performance designated as a GalaPro Performance date/time.
Currently, we have two venues equipped with the GalaPro system: the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre, and the Royal Alexandra Theatre. (But we hope to add more venues in the future!)
Any mobile device (iOS or Android) can be used, as long as it has an operating system from the latest 4-year period.
A Forgot Password link is available on the app. A reset email will be sent immediately to your GalaPro account email address, allowing you to do a quick reset. TIP: Simple passwords are recommended. Only 6 characters are required, non-case/character specific.
Yes. A limited number of house devices (pre-loaded with GalaPro app, and optional wired headphones) are available for borrow, free of charge, at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre (Coat Check on the Mezzanine level) and Royal Alexandra Theatre (Concession stand in the Main Lobby). Reservations can be made up to 48 hours in advance of your performance, and devices will otherwise be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. To make a reservation, please contact assistedlistening@mirvish.com.
